![]() I called the Uconnect support folks and the map software folks today to tell them there is a problem. Luckily it was a cool evening as everything gets really hot when the car sits and idles for that long. It took ~1:40 (one hour forty minutes) to get the download of the last unit to complete. My only option at this point was to start the car and let it idle and then start the load process again. ![]() Thinking that I only had 1 unit to go, I followed the directions and again the system was interrupted by the ignition timer ~1 hour into the download. I did have to restart the download and it began at the beginning of unit 3 as that was the unit that was interrupted. Fortunately, enough of the software was successfully downloaded such that it did not "brick" my system. Due to the length of the install, the timer shuts things down during the download of unit 3 (the last unit in the update) and interrupts the download. What happens is that a built in timer shuts the ignition "off" after a period of time if the car is not running. If you follow the instructions, you are guaranteed to have an interruption. They also state that the entire system may become inoperative if the update is interrupted. The instructions also emphasize not to do anything that could interfere with the car while the software is loading. I did this and I took the precautionary step to connect my maintenance charger ahead or time so not to draw down my battery. The instructions say to put the car in "Run" mode but not start the car. There is an error in the final steps of launching the update. I hope this thread will help others avoid the issues I had. I installed the map update yesterday but it was no "walk in the park". The map software folks have a special going on now to upgrade to the latest maps ($99). ![]() ![]() As someone who drives their Viper cross country, I find the integrated Navigation System very useful. ![]()
